Our Training Services
Following changes to Behaviour Support services in Calderdale and following the publication of OFSTED’s report on ‘Below the Radar: low level disruption’ we thought it would be helpful to publish details of our 2015-16 Training Schedule and keep you updated as to our offering via this website page.
In addition as briefly explained at the end of the programme we can offer ‘Behavioural Audits’. This comprises an analysis of your school policy and practice documents, observation of practices and interviews with staff and children leading to a detailed report on behaviour management within your school / care setting. The report will help to support you as senior leaders in recognising existing good practices, developing additional, positive practices, evidencing good practices for OFSTED and QCA inspections. The audit can include direct feedback to staff, governors, parents and any related professionals as well as on-going support.
We also offer related training programmes and can write Behavioural strategies which involve observations of case studies leading to suggested intervention strategies. This can be for individual children, groups of children, specific behaviours and specific areas of concern. We work with directly with both staff and children (individual or group) to give support and advice and develop agreed strategies.
Other training sessions we can offer include Team Teach which at the Foundation level is aimed at low risk service settings and covers personal safety, risk reduction strategies, positive handling together with documentation and legal guidance. The Foundation level is aimed into eight modules which are detailed in the attached training programme. We also run Intermediate and Advanced Team Teach courses as well as Talking Your Way out of Trouble training.
Our topics of support and intervention include: Using tools of Positive Psychology and Building Resilience, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Approaches, Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. See below for further topics.
