WHSS 2nd Annual Conference
On the 4th November we held our 2nd Annual Conference and, yet again, it was a great success. Entitled "Reach...Engage...Inspire" the conference programme attracted 70 professionals from outside the school. These included staff from local mainstream and special schools as well as from a variety of education and care settings across the North of England.
The key note speakers were particularly well received.
Mike McKeon opened with a lively, dramatic and often witty presentation about 'The Barriers to Learning in the Classroom'. This had audience participation exercises including umbrellas, balloons and live webcams...you had to be there!!
This was followed by a range of 'taster' workshops on a variety of topics ranging from Behaviour Management to Peer Counselling to Children's Mental Health issues and Art Therapy. Ten workshops in total that were received well by those attending.
After lunch we had the pleasure of being in the company of Miles Hilton-Barber, a blind adventurer who now shares his experiences within a captivating, humorous, down to earth but wholly inspirational motivational talk......A great end to a successful day.
