I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear this awful news. What a fantastic woman Janice was. I spent 7 years with her at the school and she was always smiling, looking out for staff and students. I send love to her family, and to her colleagues and friends at this sad time.

Janice was a remarkable woman, who loved her jobs and worked tirelessly to ensure that the boys were integrated into school life and able to make the most of the opportunities offered to them. I have a great memory of an Easter Fair where she had decided that I would win a particular large soft toy.  Her humour and spirit of fun shone through. The soft toy is still in our dining room. Our son has much to be thankful for in knowing Janice, she ensured he went on camp and had a great time.  She comforted him when he needed it, but above all she encouraged him to grasp life and all it had to offer. I'm sure her family and her school family are completely devastated as indeed those of us who had the pleasure of benefit from her help. Rest in peace Janice, you will be missed.

So very sad. Such a lovely kind lady! Will be sadly missed and thinking of her family and friends at this difficult time.

Janice you gave me and Ethan light when he first started WHS, you were amazing with us. Thank you is not enough!. Keep shining bright like the angel you are! Xxx

Janice was a lovely woman helped me out so many times over the years at school never had a bad word to say about anyone even came to my house with Ann Ashton for my home visit RIP Janice xx

Hi I not been at the school for a bit and did not listen to many people but when I hear this I had to say something as she help me times when I depressed home stuff always there to talk to my thoughts are with the family.

I will never forget our chats, I will continue to go away in October every year just for you! You always said life is too short and you were not wrong. The things you have done for others were always selfless, you always did your upmost for others and would always go above and beyond.  Your legacy will live on forever xx

Lovely memories of one of our saviours at William Henry Smith! Janice welcomed Dan and supported him so much she also showed him school staff are your friend too not the enemy! Janice was a positive role model and was admired by pupils and parents like us. Such a terrible and sad loss. "Goodbye, god bless take care, The angels will look after you up there".  Thank you Janice! Our thoughts are with her family and school family 💔 Love From Daniel Booth and Family xx (currently year 8)

This is crazy, can't believe she died so young, by far one of the best staff at the school, she would go above and beyond to help anyone, so sad.

No way never expected that.  She showed me around my first day with Craig Green big respect.

I was at this school for seven years, she was there from the moment I got there helped me at every possible chance she could and was still there when I left.  She was such a loving person the only way I could put it it that she was like the mother of the school RIP thoughts go out to her family she was an amazing person 😢

Words can not describe how heartbroken we are that Janice has passed. She was genuinely one of the best people we have ever met. Such kindness & warmth. With a passion for her work, all the boys at school & her family. We will miss you so very much Janice & always think of you with joy in our hearts. RIP we love you ❤️

Heartfelt condolences to all the family and friends. A truly loveable and kind lady who will be forever remembered. Xxx

We had the pleasure of meeting Janice when we visited William Henry Smith school looking for a placement for our son Lucas. Janice made us feel welcome and at ease. She touched our lives and we will be forever grateful to her for the help she gave us. Her warm, down to earth attitude & bright smile will be forever missed. Gone far too soon. We send our thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.

So very very sad to hear Janice's passing. Janice was a beautiful lady with a wonderful soul. Rest in peace lovely lady. ❤️

My condolences to her family. Only heard the news last week and it was such a shock. Janice was one of the first people I met at WHSS and loved by all.

So devastating at such a young age - she was a lovely genuine down to earth person & helped us so much at a difficult time in our lives. She was the first person we met at WHS & she made us feel welcome & at ease. So sorry for her loss to all who have been touched by her & especially her family, friends & colleagues x

Such awfully sad news. Condolences to Janice's family. Janice was admired & loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. The loss to all pupils & her many friends, colleagues at school is truly devastating. I personally didn't have the privilege of meeting her, our Grandson James received so much help when he enrolled, he loved her. Her kindness & understanding enriched his placement at William Henry Smith school. She will be missed & remain in everyone's hearts & minds forever.

Absolutely Heartbreaking 💔One Of The Kindest People Ive Met, Literally No Words 😯 RIP Janice, Heaven Has Gained A Special Person 😇❤️

It is difficult to find words to give justice to the impact, the difference and the opportunities Jan made for others. A simply wonderful woman, a woman in the strongest term; an honest, hardworking and straight to the point Yorkshire lass! No matter who you were, she would always give you time...and her point of view! Loved a little bit of gossip (or word on the street), hated driving on motorways or maybe she just liked to be chauffeured around. There are so many happy and funny memories that will come flooding back when I hear phrases like...'reet do' and 'it is what it is!' Go easy on them up there Jan, our loss is Heaven's gain. 😥

A heart of gold... Caring and supportive to both the children and the staff at the school. One of my work mums while I was there. Rest well, Janice. Heartfelt condolences to your family, friends and all the staff at WHS. ❤️

So sorry to hear such sad new of Janice passing. She was such a lovely colleague and friend to us all. Condolence's to her family. RIP Janice ♥️

My thoughts go out to Janice’s family at this very sad time. All the beautiful memories of such a lovely lady will live on. Rest in peace Jan xx

What can I say such a lovely lady and friend my thoughts go out to all her family and friends at this very sad time.

Watching Love Island and Cheshire Housewives will never be the same. I miss texting you and having a gossip about them all. We used to have little disagreements on who we liked best, laughing at each other’s comments. I loved your straight forward talking and honesty. My thoughts and prayers go out to all your family, you will be sadly missed but not forgotten. From a wanna be Cheshire Housewife!

You have left a huge hole at WHSS. Both the boys and staff will miss you dearly. Shine bright Jan. Thinking of your family xx

She was the first person to help me settle in and the first person to really come over to talk with my family when I was only small. She was kind and loving. She put in so much effort for everyone. RIP Janice 🙏

One of the first people I had the pleasure of working with and getting to know at WHSS.. one absolutely strong, kind and caring woman. She will be so sadly missed and I hope her memory lives on .. sleep peacefully ❤️

I’m gutted to hear this sad news miss Hirst was so nice and caring I can remember my first few weeks at school in bronte house I was really nervous but miss Hirst made sure I was all good day in day out 💔

Jan was an amazing woman, who helped so many people be better versions of themselves. I will never understand how she put up with us, sometimes; She had the patience of a saint. Always there with some great advice, or just to lend an ear if needed. She was a remarkable woman, and I know she'll be missed.

Such tragic and shocking news. So saddened. Janice was an amazing lady who cared for everyone. Funny , down to earth and the best at what she did . There should be more people like her. Much love and thoughts to all her family❤❤❤

My mentor, my role model, my guiding light. Janice was always there for me when I first started at WHSS. Nothing was too much trouble, always there to listen. She was my voice when things were tough, and was always there for a moan, a gossip, for advice. A strong willed, no-nonsense Yorkshire lady, who helped shape me to be able to progress to where I am today. I would not be where I am today without her. It still hasn't sunk in she won't be there, I don't think it ever will. WHSS lost a diamond, but her legacy will always be there. I hope I can be half the woman you ARE, because you will never be forgotten. Thank you for taking me under your wing.

‘Hiya love’ thats how I remember Janice such a genuinely lovely person who always said hello with love and meant it. You will be missed so much by so many. Sincere condolences to the family at this very sad time. 💕💕
